Physiotherapy for sports injuries
An injury takes you out of training and games. Our aim is to get you back as soon as possible, and safely, so it does not happen again.
When to come in
- An ankle or knee sprain
- A muscle strain, such as a hamstring or calf
- Tendon pain, such as in the Achilles or elbow
- Pain that shows up every time you run or train
- Getting back to sport after surgery
How we treat it
Assessment
We find out what was injured and why, so it does not happen again.
Treatment
Hands-on treatment and clinic equipment to bring down pain and swelling.
Progressive strengthening
Exercises that get harder step by step until you are at the level your sport needs.
Return-to-play plan
Clear markers for when you can run, train and play again.
How many sessions you will need
A mild sprain takes a few weeks. A bad strain or ligament injury takes longer. After the assessment we give you a realistic return date.
See a doctor straight away if you have
- Not being able to put weight on the leg after the injury
- A pop followed by fast swelling
- A limb that looks out of shape
- A blow to the head with dizziness, vomiting or confusion
Common questions
When should I start physiotherapy after an injury?
The sooner the better, usually within the first few days. The right movement early on helps healing.
Can I keep training?
Often yes, with changes. We show you how to keep your fitness without loading the injury.
Is it covered by GeSY?
