Exercise in pregnancy and after birth
150 minutes a week, pelvic floor exercises and what to avoid. The World Health Organization's guidelines on exercise during pregnancy and after birth.
GeSY
A practical guide to physiotherapy through GeSY, based on official documents from the Health Insurance Organisation. The rules change, so we note the date of each point.

GeSY covers physiotherapy only with a referral from a GeSY personal doctor or specialist, and only for diagnoses on the Health Insurance Organisation's list. Going straight to a physiotherapist is not covered by GeSY.
With a referral, you contact any physiotherapist contracted with the HIO. You can change physiotherapist, but the total number of visits on the referral stays the same.
Under the diagnosis list in force from 1 February 2025, for adults:
Neurological and rheumatology patients enrolled on special registers get more visits, and there are separate tables for children.
Important: only the main diagnosis on the referral sets the number of visits. Extra diagnoses do not add visits. The HIO confirmed this in an announcement dated 2 October 2026.
The co-payment is €10 per physiotherapy visit, paid directly to the provider. There is a yearly cap on co-payments: €75 for people on the Minimum Guaranteed Income, low-income pensioners and children under 21, and €150 for everyone else.
GeSY does not pay for general fitness or wellness programmes. Physiotherapy must follow a treatment plan for a specific condition. Without a referral, or once your visits run out, you can continue privately.
For questions, the GeSY call centre is on 17000, and gesy.org.cy has a provider search. If you have a referral, call us on 99 536252 and we will check together how many visits it covers.
